DUNDUN : SKERIDODO RECIPE !

Popular Nigerian street food often eaten with pepper sauce or other sauces. This is a very nostalgic food cause I enjoyed it so much  in my Junior secondary school at every break. We called it SKERIDODO then, every student loved it and it wasn't far fetched cause we had a frying point we usually buy all sorts from.

Let's break it down Skeri is the fried yam usually accompanied with, Dodo (Fried plantain)  and then the sauce. The beauty then was the old newspapers it was sold in.  Just to inform you, you may find it in various version some may prefer using sweet potato instead of yam all is still referred to as Skeridodo by the way, I attended Mayflower school Ikenne, Ogun state and it was one food students like me usually looked out for.
We now see this days it's even served as a small chop in events just like a side dish you might have your own side to it and decide on when to have it but as it implies it can be enjoyed at any time of the day!
For the dish the ingredients you need are:
Yam
Plantain (ripe)
Vegetable oil
Salt
Kitchen utensils : Knife, bowls, fryer/frying pot, cooker/stove .
PROCEDURES / STEPS:
Peel yam, plantain and then slice as you desire.
TD's Tip: cutting the yam and plantain specifically the yam in small slices will cut the cooking time and even make the yam fry thoroughly.
Rinse the yam and season with some salt do likewise for the plantain
TD's Tip: Remember to submerge the yam slices when it's cut and peeled in some water to prevent from browning dash of vinegar can be added to the water.
Heat up the vegetable oil this is usually deep-fried
TD's Tip: I forgot telling you that the life LIFE stressed of this decadent dish is the pepper sauce so endeavor to prepare a really nice pepper sauce to go with the Dundun.
After frying drain in some kitchen paper and serve hot with the pepper sauce and enjoy with any drink of your choice.
Bon appetite!
