GINGER-LIME TEA

It's a nice time of the year to go natural and take all these goodness into the body just to boost the immune system and indirectly detoxify. This is one of the five home remedies I'm going to be sharing with you. Ginger-Lime tea is an amazing tea you'll definitely want to try out during this harmattan. However, two things make this tea stand out; the residual heat of the Ginger (Zingiber officinale) and the tangy feel of the Lime (Citrus aurantifolia) it is beautiful absolutely.

Now, studies shows that ginger is a herb that can increase the production of saliva and it can help cure colds, fatigue, nausea, and the flu when used in tea or food as the case may be while, lime is rich in vitamin C and ascorbic acid. You absolutely need this during this season the combination is just incredible as it has a mild feel not so pungent but it's equally good for the body.

INGREDIENTS (1-2 servings)
Ginger
Lime
Grains of Selim
Honey (optional)
Water (2cups)

ANALYZING THE INGREDIENTS

Ginger; just a medium size of the rhizome/root will be enough, Lime; a medium size use a knife to cut through the circumference, Grains of Selim; detach two from the stalk, honey; this is quite medicinal and a tea spoon will just do, water; this can be increased but based in this recipe I sticked to just two.

Now, let's cook!

PROCEDURE / STEPS:

Step 1: Rise all herbs in fresh water or under running water.

Step 2: Slice the Ginger, cut through the circumference of the lime.

TD's Tip: I usually don't take the peel off when doing this because I believe they contain vital nutrients equally good for the body. But feel free to do as you wish

Step 3: In a pot, bring water to boil.

Step 4: Add herbs to boiled water , reduce heat and let it boil slowly.

Step 5: Take off heat and Let it cool before serving.

TD's Tip: Cooking time was about 15minutes.

Step 6: Strain into tea cups. It best served with honey though, its optional.

Bon appetite!
