Tuna-Mayo Sandwich

This is a long time coming recipe. I first penned it down in my jotter last year. A Quite filling meal that contains loads and loads of vital nutrients your body sure needs for wellness.
There is a kind of vibe I got when I tasted the tuna it made me remember childhood I usually enjoyed this kind of sandwich then whenever we go for parties also Dad at some time brings back some with him after conferences they made theirs blind without any veggies but this particular recipe contains veggies. Munching on the veggies made me feel accomplished also the added Yaji brought out the Nigerianess of the dish I know you know what I'm talking about?  🤣.


Ingredients: (Serves 2)

Sliced bread [Pan toast] —( 6 slices)
Tuna [2—3 heap TBSP]
Mayonnaise (1TBSP) [Contains a dash of Lemon juice]
2 Tomatoes [Sliced] 
Half Cucumber [Sliced]
Lettuce [Blanched] — 4 leaves
Yaji [1/4 tsp]


Procedures / Steps:

Step 1: Prep all ingredients start with the veggies then the bread. Detach some lettuce from stalk and rinse. Cut up tomatoes and cucumber.

TD's Tip: I usually blanch my lettuce to get rid of insects and germs that might be on it. After the first cleaning, place the leaves in hot water and let it sit for 30 seconds. Drain out the leaves and transfer to cold water to stop it from cooking on the inside.

Step 2: Toast the sliced bread.

TD's Tip: The choice of bread is absolutely up to you, all you need do when toasting is to butter it on both sides for more flavor and then toast in a pan or toaster until it's slightly brown.

Step 3: Combine the Tuna-Mayo mix. In a bowl add tuna, mayonnaise and Yaji stir till it's fully combined this will serve as the spread.

TD's Tip: Salt or seasoning can be introduced to the recipe but it's totally optional. You sticking to this recipe will result in how my looks and taste. Canned sardines can be used in absence of tuna all you need do is, mash some up in a bowl and add the remaining ingredients.


Step 4: Assemble Sandwich starting with;  A sliced toast bread ➡️ Adding the Tuna-Mayo mix spread ➡️ place the cucumber and tomato  (lengthwise)➡️ then lettuce ➡️ covering with another slice of bread ➡️ Add the Tuna-Mayo mix spread ➡️ add the cucumber and tomato ➡️ cover with another bread.

 It is ready to be served cut through with a bread knife for a more attractive presentation 👌. Serve with beverages or just water.  Enjoy!
