TASTY NIGERIAN BUNS

I feel it will be so unfair to compare buns with puffpuff it just doesn't add up. The Nigerian buns has this crusty outer layer that forms when its fried and its absolutely delishhhhhhh!

Buns are naturally one of the popular street food and snack you'll find or rather buy from your street food vendor you find people from way back pairing this with soda (aka. Minerals) but how did we successfully name soda drinks "minerals"? Story for another day.

Mind you, this recipe is super tasty and mouthwatering. Now, if you're not the sweet tooth type then I've got you covered in this recipe because it doesn't require much sugar. The tasty buns is just in between sweet, eggy name it.....
But if you are the sweet tooth type never worry you're equally welcome just do some little adjustment to the sugar when adding.

Buns are equally fast to make and I sincerely appreciate the fact that unlike puffpuff that you have to wait for it to proof — buns is super fast and quick not time consuming. One thing you should take note is, instead of just water I will be using liquid milk to add more flavour to my buns but if you have powdered milk just use about 3heapTBSP, I also used some vanilla extract, nutmeg it's about infusing the natural ingredients.

This deliciousness also can equally serve as finger food in parties and goes well as an appetizer. You can be creative and add some nutella or peanut butter spread just in between. Hmm some food inspiration right there anyways, it's raining buns galore in TD's Kitchen and I can't wait to share more of these food experiences with you.

Now, let's cook!

INGREDIENTS
Flour 3cups
Sugar 1/4cup
Baking powder 1tsp
Salt 1/2tsp
Eggs 2
Butter 3TBSP
Milk 3/4cup
Water 3/4cup
Veg. Oil
Vanilla extract 1tsp
Nutmeg 1/2tsp

STEPS / PROCEDURE

Step 1: Measure out the ingredients, with the aid of a whisk combine the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, nutmeg) in a large bowl.

Step 2:  Rub in butter, make a well in the centre of the combined dry ingredients, crack open eggs, add vanilla extract, add milk and water.

TD's Tip: Ensure your eggs are fresh. But if you are not so sure. Crack open each egg in a separate bowl and add to mixture at installment.

Step 3: Knead all the ingredients together till it forms a smooth, stretchy and fluffy batter.

TD's Tip: Buns batter shouldn't be very runny neither should it be hard. If it's a little hard after following this exact recipe please add a dash of water to loosen the batter.

Step 4: Place fryer on heat and fry batter till it's golden brown.

TD's Tip: Naturally, I flavour my oil before frying anything. In this case, I used Grains of Selim to flavour my oil. Take all necessary precautions when dealing with hot oil.

Step 5: Serve hot with any drink

Bon appetite!
